Engineering Schools Search - By Cost (Tuition and Fees):
Through the search engine provided below,
you can obtain a listing of all schools profiled on this website,
grouped into cost ranges based on the approximate annual cost (tuition
and fees) assessed to full-time engineering undergraduates (graduate
school costs, while NOT similarly compiled, are included within each school's
profile - why is that?). Please note that room
and board is NOT included in the cited costs - students can refer to the
individual school profiles to obtain an estimate of room and board costs
for particular schools. Finally, for public colleges/universities, both in-state
and out-of-state cost figures are factored into the listings provided.
A quick glance through the listings reveal the
following two generalizations (which, like most generalizations, has its
notable
exceptions):
--- Undergraduate tuition and fees at the PUBLIC
colleges/universities listed are generally under $20,000 a year, with
in-state students generally paying less than $10,000 a year and
out-of-state students generally paying $10-20,000 a year.
--- Undergraduate tuition and fees at the
PRIVATE
colleges/universities listed are generally at least $20,000 a year.
Two important items to note with respect to
the above are:
--- There is a growing
trend for public colleges/universities to offer undergraduate students of neighboring/nearby
states a significant discount off of the regular out-of-state rates,
often resulting in eligible students paying a rate closer to the
in-state rate than the out-of-state rate (we note such opportunities within our
school cost listings).
--- Many private colleges/universities offer
significant amounts of financial aid, resulting in them being able to
effectively discount their standard tuition rates for a great number of
their students.
A CAUTIONARY NOTE ABOUT COST AND SELECTING A
SCHOOL:
Students are strongly urged not to limit their
selection of potential schools based solely on cost considerations.
Financial aid is available to many families - including
many middle/upper-middle income families, as well as to most lower-income
families. And if you are well-qualified academically, many scholarships are available
to help pay for your education. To help you understand and navigate the financial aid
